چکیده
Seamounts are globally important and essential ecosystems for supporting maintaining marine biodiversity. In the Mallorca Channel, three prominent seamounts present: Ausias March, Ses Olives Emile Baudot. Currently, this area is being evaluated inclusion in Natura 2000 network. For objective surveys were conducted of Channel during July 2018 2020. Samples macro-invertebrates obtained deep sea revealed a rich fauna Mollusca (68 species belonging to 40 families). New occurrences included: four Gastropoda: Colus jeffreysianus, Cantrainea peloritana, Fusiturris similis, Gymnobela abyssorum, seven Bivalvia: Pododesmus squama, Allogramma formosa, Asperarca nodulosa, Cetomya neaeroides, Spondylus gussonii, Haliris granulata Policordia gemma. Where possible, identification these was confirmed using DNA barcoding method (sequencing cytochrome c oxidase subunit I). This study contributes towards filling gap knowledge deep-sea mollusc north-western Mediterranean.

New and rare sponges from the deep shelf of the Alboran Island (Alboran Sea, Western Mediterranean).
The sponge fauna from the deep shelf (70 to 200 m) of the Alboran Island (Alboran Sea, Western Mediterranean) was investigated using a combination of ROV surveys and collecting devices in the frame of the EC LIFE+ INDEMARES Grant aimed to designate marine areas of the Nature 2000 Network within Spanish territorial waters. From ROV surveys and 351 examined specimens, a total of 87 sponge species...
متن کاملDiversity of Siphonophora (Cnidaria: Hydrozoa) in the Western Caribbean Sea: new records from deep-water trawls
Siphonophores are one of the least known gelatinous zooplankters in the tropical waters of the Northwestern Atlantic. Most of the regional knowledge about their diversity and distribution is based on surface samples (0–200 m). Siphonophores were collected from oceanic waters off the Mexican Caribbean across an expanded sampling range (0–940 m) during two cruises and were taxonomically examined....
متن کاملFloating debris in the Ligurian Sea, north-western Mediterranean.
Results from visual sightings of large floating debris are presented, taken in the Ligurian Sea, a sub-basin of the north-western Mediterranean Sea which belongs to the recently stated "Cetacean Sanctuary". Data have been collected during three oceanographic cruises, during the summer of 1997 and 2000. Results for the 1997 data suggest a debris density of the order of 15-25 objects km(-2), whil...
